Top Beers From Norway To Try This 2020

30/09/2020

Today, we will discuss three amazing Norwegian beers that shall leave you wanting for more.

When you think about Norway, you naturally think about Norway’s landscapes, amazingly beautiful auroras, Norwegian cuisine, Geirangerfjord, a very stylish Scandi Noir way, and many other aspects. Today we will discuss three amazing Norwegian beers that shall leave you wanting for more.

Did You Know? Beer has been brewed and enjoyed in Norway for at least 1,000 years.

During the late Middle Ages & the long unions with Denmark, farms commonly had a brewing operation on site. The name ‘bryggehus' (brewing house) refers back to these days.

Here we bring you the top beers from Norway to try this 2020.

  1. Direktørens Skau

Direktørens Skau by Hunsfos Bryggeri TAS Hunsfos Brewery is brewed on the inner fillet of the Norwegian earliest forest. This spiced beer comes with 7.2% ABV and is brewed with fresh shoots from juniper, spruce, pine, and porcupine. This beer is brewed in the short season where the shoots have a strong aroma and taste. Therefore, Direktørens Skau can only be brewed in early summer and that is why it is produced in a very limited volume.

Direktørens Skau won a Silver medal at the London Beer Competition held on July 6, 2020.

  1. Direktørens Jul

Direktørens Jul by Hunsfos Bryggeri TAS Hunsfos Brewery is a powerful and tasty beer, with dark brown hue. The taste of Direktørens Jul is malt-driven and has hints of caramel and coffee. With an ABV of 9.3%, this dark British beer gives a velvety mouthfeel. The Direktørens Jul is well suited to dark winter evenings and deserves to be enjoyed slowly.

Direktørens Jul is unfiltered and therefore contains yeast sediments at the bottom of the bottle. Therefore, before serving, it is suggested to let the bottle stand still and carefully pour at an angle into the glass to avoid yeast taste.

Direktørens Jul won a Silver medal at the London Beer Competition held on July 6, 2020.

  1. Hunsfos MoiPa

Hunsfos MoiPa by Hunsfos Bryggeri TAS Hunsfos Brewery is developed with Chef Trond Moi. With an ABV of 4.7%, Moipa is a refreshing and moist IPA with hints of passion fruit. Moipa can be enjoyed alone but it goes best with a hearty meat dinner.

Hunsfos MoiPa won a Bronze medal at the London Beer Competition held on July 6, 2020.

ABOUT THE BREWERY

Hunsfos Bryggeri AS was established in 2014 by the beer enthusiasts behind the Venndøla guild, who think that Vennesla should have its own beer production.

In the old Mill House of former Hunsfos Factories, Hunsfos Brewery started beer production in January 2016.

One of Hunsfos Bryggeri’s goals is for the products to reflect the good craftsmanship that they provide with hard work, precision, and pride. The team of this brewery works hard to comply with this so that they can at all times be proud of the products they deliver.
