Over the years, we've established the importance of competitions in the beer industry. They're a prime way to get your beers in front of trade buyers, and know where you actually stand in the market.
After 2 years of consecutive success, the London Beer Competition, in its 3rd year is set to continue its aim of setting a true benchmark for buyers and consumers looking to buy beer of the best quality, price, and packaging.
All global beer competitions have been organized in the same way for years, by beers being blind-tasted and judged. The London Beer Competition has broken with tradition and brought a different approach to judging.
Beverage Trade Network, the organizers of the London Beer Competition asked over a hundred buyers across the globe about how they pick beers for their portfolios and lists. In the end, it all boiled down to three main aspects - Quality, Value, & Packaging.
With this, the unique judging process of the London Beer Competition was birthed. Apart from quality, the London Beer Competition also judges all the beer on their packaging and value for money. To be more precise, the London Beer Competition judges in the way a consumer would, when picking a bottle.
The average customer always looks at the price first. Then they look at the label and pick out the beers with designs and stories that appeal to them. So these two things come before a producer even gets a chance to show how well their product is.
Putting this into place, the London Beer Competition judges beer based on three main criteria:
We want to celebrate beers that are both enjoyable and easy to drink, beers that are well balanced, where their acidity, tannins and alcohol levels all work seamlessly together. That’s the Quality factor.
You don't need to be the cheapest beers on the shelf to offer the best value for money. Far from it. Some beers may have a high price tag, but can still offer great value providing it delivers the right quality and taste for a beer at that price point. The London Beer Competition will assess each beer for how much value it is offering its customers.
Up to 65% of consumers will try a new beer just because it looks good and if you can match that with a price and quality of beer that offers great value for money, then you are more than halfway home. The London Beer Competition will reward those brands that show they understand their customers, and the price category they are operating in, and have produced a design and package with the right personality to attract and keep their attention.
The last day to enter into the London Beer Competition is June 20, 2020. Get your beer judged by the real trade buyers from across the beer industry.
So, the medal-winning beers are the ones that,
