Robert Grimes is the Beer & Cider Buyer at Marks & Spencer, bringing experience in FMCG buying and e-commerce retail to the London Beer Competition judging panel. His background combines drinks category knowledge with a commercial understanding of product selection and consumer appeal.

Previously a Wine Buyer at Ocado, Robert has experience across multiple drinks categories. He holds WSET Level 3 in Wine with Distinction, alongside distinctions at WSET Levels 1 and 2 in Wines & Spirits.

At Marks & Spencer, his buying work includes supporting new beer and cider listings, including products within the growing no and low alcohol category. This experience gives him a practical perspective on how brands can meet shoppers’ expectations and earn their place on retail shelves.

As a London Beer Competition judge, Robert brings a retail buyer’s perspective to assessing quality, value and packaging, considering how these elements work together to create a compelling proposition for UK consumers.
