English Special Bitter or English Best Bitter is a medium body beer. The strength is between 4.2% and 4.7% abv. The color varies from deep gold to deep copper and chill haze is visible at low temperatures. A slight increase in carbon dioxide is acceptable when this type of bitter is bottled. Very low level or even the absence of diacetyl is also acceptable.
