The alcohol-free beer category is no longer a niche segment sitting on the margins of the drinks industry. Yet despite the category’s rapid growth, one challenge continues to persist: many alcohol-free beers still struggle to deliver the character, complexity and drinking experience that consumers expect from premium craft beer.
For Santé Belgium, that challenge became an opportunity.
Founded by friends Cesar Micheviz and Luigi Neirynck, the Belgian brewery was created around a simple but ambitious idea: if Belgium is one of the world's great brewing nations, then it should be capable of producing an alcohol-free beer that genuinely drinks like a real craft IPA. In 2026, the beer earned a Gold Medal and an impressive 95 points at the London Beer Competition, where judges described it as aromatic with floral, citrus and stone fruit notes, balanced by lively acidity and a crisp, lingering bitter finish.

At the centre of the portfolio is Gold Mustache IPA, a 0.3% ABV Belgian IPA brewed with Citra hops and crafted using water, barley malt, rye malt, hops, orange peel, natural flavouring and yeast. The beer is dry-hopped with Citra, contributing to the aromatic profile that helped secure its London Beer Competition Gold Medal.
Importantly, Santé Belgium does not position alcohol-free beer as a lesser alternative. Instead, Gold Mustache is presented as a premium craft product designed for consumers who still appreciate flavour, complexity and brewing heritage.
